Trip Overview
Our mission trip to Ghana is focused on working alongside local partners to deliver community-based projects, provide educational support, and assist with creative development activities. Volunteers will gain valuable insight into Ghanaian culture and contribute to meaningful initiatives that make a lasting impact.
Daily Duties of a Volunteer
• Participate fully in daily schedules, which may include community outreach, workshops, school visits, and support with local projects. • Assist in practical tasks such as setting up activities, facilitating group sessions, or helping with logistics. • Work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changes in schedule or environment. • Uphold respectful behaviour, cultural sensitivity, and positive representation of Make A Step at all times. • Cover their Fares and Trip Costs (This can be fundraised as well)
Fundraising Before the Trip
Each volunteer is encouraged to participate in fundraising activities to help cover costs of the mission and contribute towards project resources. Support and ideas for fundraising will be provided by the Make A Step team. Volunteers are expected to take responsibility for reaching their individual fundraising targets ahead of the trip.
Travel Requirements (Visa, Insurance & Health)
• Visa: All volunteers are responsible for securing the necessary visa for travel to Ghana. Guidance will be provided, but applications must be made in advance. • Travel Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance, including medical cover, is mandatory for all volunteers. Proof of insurance must be submitted before departure. • Vaccinations (Jabs): Volunteers are required to ensure they have the recommended vaccinations for travel to Ghana (such as Yellow Fever.Please speak with your doctor for full advisory.
